MEMBERSHIPS
Developmental Disabilities
Nurses Association (DDNA)
DDNA meets the professional needs of nurses serving individuals with
developmental disabilities. DDNA advocates, educates, and celebrates
the specialized role of these nurses.
We offer membership to DDNA to our nursing staff. Approximately a
quarter of our nurses participate, including the Directors Of
Nursing. It is a strong information source that provides
opportunities for nurses to network with colleagues and to learn
trends in care for the developmentally disabled. This membership
helps Marklund staff stay at the forefront of quality care.
American Health Care
Association (AHCA)
Based in Washington, DC, AHCA is a national organization that
represents the long-term care community.
Marklund President and CEO, Joel Rusco, was one of ten national
representatives on the Committee for MRDD (Mental Retardation
Developmental Disabilities), 2004-2005. AHCA provides the networking
opportunities for Marklund to see an overall big picture of care for
the developmentally disabled. AHCA provides lobbying for law
changes, and membership gives Marklund the “heads-up” for upcoming
changes.
Illinois Health Care
Association (IHCA)
IHCA is the largest long-term care association in Illinois. As an
affiliate of the AHCA, IHCA leads in advocacy and education for its
members to deliver, with integrity, responsive health care,
residential and other related services. We have been members for
over 10 years.
IHCA offers Marklund opportunities for networking, learning new
trends, receiving continuing education and being notified of any
legislative information. In addition, IHCA offers comprehensive
training for new regulations that have been instituted.
Marklund therapists, administrators, QMRPs, and nurses receive CEUs
(continuing education units, required to keep licenses in good
standing) through IHCA. |
