Services are provided to adults with severe and profound disabilities at all 3 of our facilities:
the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin and the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale.

Marklund Hyde Center   Located in Geneva, IL, Marklund’s 25-acre Hyde Center campus was designed to create an environment of community and support for adults with developmental disabilities.

Each of the six 16-bed homes located on the Hyde Center Campus, is licensed as an Intermediate Care Facility for Developmentally Disabled adults (ICF-DD). We have a Medical Director who oversees all of the medical care and doctors orders for the residents on campus.

Homes feature two hydrotherapy bathtubs, a sensory therapy room, a multipurpose/dining room, a full service kitchen, and seven double occupancy rooms and two single rooms equipped with state-of-the-art beds to provide residents with the highest level of comfort.

The ratio of staff to clients in each home is 1:5 and there is one Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional per home for case management (ratio is 1:16 staff to client). Staff nurses provide specialized care 24 hours a day.

In addition to therapeutic activities and outings planned to help clients reach their potential, residents also go to the main Hyde Center building  (located on campus) for the Community Day Services program, the hydrotherapy whirlpool and pool, a full-service dental office, a barber shop, a kitchen and cafeteria.
Also located on campus for residents to enjoy is the first Miracle League baseball diamond in Illinois which features a rubberized surface ideal for wheelchair use.

The Marklund Wasmond Center and Community Day Services area are adjacent to one another on 5 acres of land, located on Rt. 58 on the eastern edge of Elgin, Illinois. The residential portion of the facility is home for up to 61 residents–children and young adults–most of whom share rooms or suites with 1, 2 or 3 roommates. Rooms are painted and decorated to express the clients’ personal interests. Those in suites share a common bathing area which is situated in between the two adjoining rooms.  The building surrounds a beautiful outdoor courtyard, giving clients and staff a chance to enjoy the outdoors in a pleasant, safe environment right on site. Other amenities include a spacious activities/gathering area, beautiful and relaxing bird aviary, sensory room, and hydrotherapy pool.

With a Medical Director on-call 24 hours a day to meet the medical needs of the residents, the care team also includes licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants who are also on staff 24 hours a day. Our nursing team is specially trained to care for complex medical needs such as intensive nutritional management, seizure control, respiratory therapy, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy care and oxygen therapy. A QIDP serving as case manager, and various therapists support the resident care plans as well.
