Children's Home

Opened in 1957 by our founders, Claire and Stan Haverkampf, the Marklund Children’s Home in Bloomingdale is a licensed Skilled Nursing Facility for pediatrics serving 21 residents in a home-like, comfortable environment. The home is consistently monitored 24 hours a day by caring staff members (ratio is 1:5 staff to client) and oxygen levels on tracheotomy clients are constantly supervised. Additionally, one Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP) is on-staff for resident case management.

Each bedroom at Marklund is outfitted with a TV/DVD player for the three to four residents to enjoy; each resident has their own dresser and place for personal items. There’s also an indoor baseball diamond, a Snoezelen Therapy Room and a number of therapeutic activities and outings planned for residents to enjoy.

The Children’s Home is a cozy environment where our residents thrive. Marklund has a Medical Director who is a pediatric neurologist. She oversees all of the medical care and doctors orders for the residents at Marklund Children’s Home.

We are also proud to have several staff members at the Children’s Home who have over 25 years of service and dedication to Marklund.
