The Marklund Day School is a non-public state-certified school located in Bloomingdale, IL that provides a highly specialized education experience for individuals ages 3-22 with medical, developmental, and physical disabilities. Our program is appropriately designed to foster growth in all essential areas.
By utilizing a variety of therapies and equipment, Marklund creates a classroom environment conducive for learning. Our team of compassionate, skilled, and experienced professionals emphasizes a highly sensory-driven program featuring physical & occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, music therapy, snoezelen therapy, computer assistive devices, community involvement, recreational therapy with adapted sports leagues, aromatherapy, aquatic therapy, and more.
In the classroom, staff to student ratio is 1:3 and 1:4 with a teacher and certified paraprofessionals. Most paraprofessionals are also certified nursing assistants. All students benefit from on-site staff therapists and nurses with experience meeting intensive medical needs.
Throughout the year, staff participate in on-going educational opportunities to insure they have the most up-to-date skills and resources.
Providing a full 5½ hour day during both our regular year and summer school programs, which together span 12 months, the Marklund Day School promotes continuous learning momentum across the seasons. View our 2009-2010 School Calendar.
The student’s home school district pays for tuition and transportation.
