Funding

Marklund's current total operating budget is approximately $17 million. Marklund receives 80% of its funding from the State of Illinois (daily rate from the Department of Public Aid) for the basic care of our residents. The amount of monies received is based on the multiple nursing needs of Marklund's total population. The remaining 20% of Marklund's costs, including special programs, therapy services, and individualized needs that are not covered under state reimbursements, comes from the support of individual and corporate donors, private trust funds, foundations and grants, or direct payment.

Marklund needs your support. Without the proper funds and equipment, the infants, children and adults served by Marklund cannot receive the appropriate care they deserve. Marklund Charities, the development arm of Marklund, will be raising the monies needed to support the direct needs of the entire Marklund organization. Funds raised will go directly towards (the purchase of) beds, rails, lifts, bath tubs, Snoezelen (sensory-stimulation therapy) equipment, scholarships, and building renovations and additions.
