Marklund receives 80% of its funding from the State of Illinois for the basic care of our residents. While this support is essential, it is not enough to cover the remaining expenses of the organization. With the donations of individuals, corporations, private trust funds, foundations and grants, Marklund is able to operate make-up the 20% balance of their operating budget.

The funds raised through donations helps give a little piece of hope to one of the many individuals that we serve. Your gift makes a tremendous difference in our daily operations, and goes directly towards the purchase of beds, rails, lifts, bath tubs, Snoezelen (sensory-stimulation therapy) equipment, special programs, therapy services, scholarships, and building renovations and additions. The infants, children and adults served by Marklund cannot receive the appropriate care they deserve without your support.
Marklund also offers a unique opportunity to donate and to volunteer at the same time.

With a gift of $20 a month, or $240 a year, the Guardian Angel Program establishes and maintains relationships between the infants, children and adults served by Marklund, and caring residents in the community. With monthly mail correspondence and visiting the resident, if desired, the Guardian Angel has the opportunity to not only see where their financial contribution makes an impact, but also to take part. The monthly donations assist in providing the infant, child or adult with needed personal expenses such as clothing, shoes and field trips. In return, each guardian angel receives a special card about the resident, as well as regular updates.
