Located on the Mill Creek Campus, Marklund’s Adult Development Training program currently has the capacity to serve 112 clients in seven classrooms.
Developmental Training creates individualized programming for adults with physical and medical disabilities who are over the age of 18. Our goal is to empower our clients to achieve their highest personal potential. Each client has his or her own individual plan and works on goals each day. Therapy is also an important part of the day, and in the DT classrooms, clients work on refining social skills, self-awareness, how to act in different situations, as well as skills they need in everyday life, such as working with money.
Programs includes: activities of daily living, pre-vocational and vocational skills training, communication development, physical & occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, music therapy, *snoezelen therapy, recreational therapy with adapted sports leagues, leisure activities, *aromatherapy, aquatic therapy in our on-site pool, and more.
(*Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Environment which includes but not limited to various forms of auditory and visual stimulation, and aromatherapy.)
We also offer a wide range of daily community outings for client participation. Each client selects at least two outings per month to attend.
Staff ensures that clients receive a well-rounded host of experiences that afford them optimum growth opportunities.
In the classroom, staff to student client ratio is 1:5 with a developmental instructor, developmental trainers and Therapeutic Activity Aides. Staff nurses are on-site to address medical needs.
