Trusting Marklund

From our beginning as a home in Northlake for four "handicapped" babies to a network of services that has helped thousands of families with disabled children, Marklund has become more than just another place that serves the disabled, we have become a symbol of quality care for special people in need. Were our founders alive today, they would probably be amazed at what we’ve become, with seven homes and a budget of approximately $17 million. The implicit understanding of the needs of people with disabilities made us who we are today.

Marklund has provided a multitude of services to over 1,700 individuals with special needs since 1954. Over 1,030 students have graduated from Marklund BNATP since 1980. Tens of thousands have come through the doors at our various sites to work and volunteer over the years.

Each one of our direct care staff member is dual-certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Designated Support Person (DSP). We have a team of therapists on staff who evaluate all clients (residential and community) to create individualized active treatment plans with client-specific goals.

Marklund takes our duty to the individuals we serve very seriously. We stand by our standards of quality by maintaining clean and updated facilities, communicating milestones with families, focusing on continuing education and training for our staff, meeting the needs of each individual served, and becoming an extension to each of our families. We really care.
