Marklund’s Community Day Services – specialized programming for adults
Marklund’s Community Day Services program is offered at the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, and the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale. Community Day Services (CDS) creates individualized programming for adults with developmental, physical and medical disabilities who are over the age of 18. Our goal is to empower our residents and community clients to achieve their highest personal potential. Each person has his or her own individual plan and works on goals each day. In the CDS classrooms, our residents and community clients work on refining social skills, self-awareness, how to act in different situations, as well as skills they need in everyday life, such as working with money. Therapy is also an important part of the day.
Programs include: activities of daily living, pre-vocational and vocational skills training, communication development, physical & occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, music therapy, snoezelen/sensory therapy, recreational therapy with adapted sports leagues, leisure activities, aquatic therapy in our on-site pool (Geneva and Elgin only), and more.
We also offer a wide range of community/vocational outings. Each person selects at least two outings per month to attend.
Staff ensure that the residents and community clients receive a well-rounded host of experiences that afford them optimum growth opportunities.
Classroom staff includes a developmental instructor, developmental trainers and aides. Staff nurses are on-site to address medical needs.
