Internships for a Career in Serving those with Developmental Disabilities
Not only do clinical student interns lend a helping hand in our day-to-day business activities, they contribute their ideas and give a fresh vantage point to our programs and services. But perhaps most important, they get a real education about working with children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Many students have never experienced anything within this field in their personal lives, and this is a chance for them to see first-hand, how valuable our service is to those with developmental disabilities.
Whatever path they take in their career, this experience will be beneficial.
Marklund has provided non-paid internships to students in various areas of study including:
- Nursing
- Therapy (Physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Speech & Language Pathology, Aquatic Therapy, Music Therapy)*
- Special Education
- Public Relations
- Fundraising
* NOTE: Marklund’s Therapy Department can accommodate (time permitting) graduate students from accredited speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy programs for their clinicals/external placements.
Music therapy or recreation therapy students need to be from an accredited program, but do not have to be grad students.
